THE COMPASSIONATE FRIENDS
The Compassionate Friends is a support group for
bereaved parents and siblings. Most cities have meetings
once a month.
TCF has been a great help to my wife and me. There
is something miraculous that happens when we share
our stories with eachother. I remember how difficult
it was to talk to my friends and family about my grief
feelings. It was like they just didn't understand.
Of course, they didn't really understand, because it
had not ever happened to them. The friends I met at
TCF did know, first hand, what it felt like and that
made a very big difference.
Meetings are comprised of sharing with eachother,
discussing methods of dealing with grief, the stages
of grief, talking about our children, and exploring
available resources. We have an extensive library on
grief and other associated issues. From time to time
we have guest speakers.
Please give us a try. And don't be quick to judge
by the first meeting. The first meeting can be uncomfortable
for us...as some of us share our story for the first
time. It can sometimes be depressing and we wonder
what we could possibly be getting from it. But, with
time, we begin to see the benefits.
You may not feel ready to attend a meeting yet, but
we urge you to contact us anyway. You will not be pressured
in any way! Only you can decide when you are ready.
If you are grieving the loss of a child or a sibling.....I
encourage you to check out "The Compassionate Friends."
