VSS supports two local recording methods:
(1) If the IP camera supports RTSP, then VSS can directly save RTSP video stream into .MP4 or .WMV video clip files. But it requires audio CODEC to be AAC. In your case, the IP camera's audio CODEC is not compatible with .MP4 / .WMV. Please check if you can configure the IP camera to use AAC audio codec.
In some cases, you can also try to change the video format to .WMV in VSS software. It might be able to support the audio codec. (See the screenshots below.)
(2) VSS can transcode the RTSP video stream into .MP4 video clips based on your camera license (service plan). This way, the audio is usually preserved. The video clips saved locally will be the same as the files uploaded to the cloud.
Method (1) has one advantage: it can record very high resolution / high FPS videos to the local drive (regardless of your camera license parameters).
If you cannot solve the audio issue, you can use method (2). You can open CameraFTP VSS software, move the mouse over the camera live view, it will display a popup menu. Click the Edit icon (the pencil icon), it will pop up the Camera Settings dialog. Click the Recording tab, then uncheck "Allow VSS to store footage on local disk". Please check if it works for you. Our engineers will try to improve it later.
